The author describes her family's ahrd work keeping possesson of their farm during the Great Depression. She describes funny & tragic events from her rigorous nursing education in Austin, Texas, during World War II. Her nursing career unfolded at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas, and she led the anti-smoking efforts at Veterans Administration Hospitals in Kansas and Texas. The book describes her experiences and memories from her eleven years spent at UTMB working in medical-surgical positions. Missing the title page otherwise the book is crisp and clean.
