Sm4to from 9" to 11". 90 pp, quarterbound w/blk cloth covered boards illustrated in red-blu-gilt-green front & back panels, black cloth covered spine w/gilt lettering, dj brown w/black lettering w/color illustrated front, slipcase black w/paper wraparound label, one of seven hundred and seventy-five signed & numbered cc's (#660), SIGNED by the author. eight two color illustrations, deckle edges, with unopened top edges. The main interest is what happens to the soul of Emperor Jones, the self-imposed dictator of a West Indies island, when he is forced to abandon his rule and flee throught the woods; the progress of his emotion from uneasiness to fear and then to hysteria is portrayed in speech, setting, and by the incessant beating of a drum. the play is an example of expressionism. slipcase bottom missing two inch chip on bottom, small chips on slipcase corners
