x, 137 pp, brown-yel cloth covered boards w/decorative diagonal stripe across the boards, SIGNED by the author on the title page and includes Autographed Letter, SIGNED by the author (letter stapled to the ffep by prev owner), Limited to 750 cc's.. Also a brief four page essay titled "The Texana and Americana Collection of Traylor Russell" where he lists some of the books he has and the areas of interest that he collected. There is a copy of book review of the Carpetbaggers book. The author writes of the reconstruction period in Marion County and the Carpetbaggers, who were Northern politicians or adventurers who came South to take advantage of the unsettled conditions. The Scalawags were white Southerner who were buddies to the Carpetbagger and informers to the Yankee Army. Their presence was usually marked by violence, murder, theft, and pillage. He writes of the murder of various people, trials, and summary justice.
