xvi, 461 pp, [2], green cloth covered boards w/blind stamped border on the front & rear boards, gilt stamped emblem on fornt panel & spine. The author provides an account of excavations in 1873 & 1874 on the site of Nineveh and the discoveries which resulted from these excavations. They excavated at Nimroud & Kouyunjik. At the time of the excavations the area was under Turkish control. Some of the discoveries contained early assyrian inscriptions and inscriptions of Tiglath Pileser II, Sargon, Sennacherib, Esarhaddon, Assurbanipal, Bel-Zakir-Iskun and others. Prev owner's name & bookplate on FPD & ffep, prev bookstore label on FPD & RPD. some rubbing & wear to edges of spine, water stain to several of the pages of text, some foxing in the text.
