The U.S. Coast Guard was original established as a small coasat patrol of ten cutters, with its chief duties to collect revenue and prevent smugglers from landing contraband cargo. The book provides information on the humanitarian work, the scientific research and the rescue operations that the Coast Guard along with military operations. The motto of the Coast Guard is "Always Ready." dj on the front, rear covers, front & rear flaps have remnants of adhesive, prev owner's wrote name on half title page, remnants of adhesive on the ffep, small chips at top & bottom of the dj spine and some soiling to the dj.
