139 pp, black boards w/gilt letters, clear mylar dj, black slipcase, with Christmas card from the Steck Company w/the book. Book is an account of one of the last military episodes of the Civil War. It is the dramatic story of a band of valiant, heroic Missouri & Texas dreamers who tried to escape defeat by running away to Mexico after Lee's surrender at Appomattox. Shelby & his men were at Marshall, Texas, temporary Confederate capital of Missouri, when word came of the surrender of Lee's army. Colored illustrations were done by Carol Rogers. slight bump on slipcase, bump on front edge of boards corresponding to bump on slipcase.
