xiv, 401 pp, gray clothcovered boards w/maroon title bar on the front cover and spine w/gilt lettering, gray dj w/red-black illustrations and w/black lettering. Henry Kyd Douglas was the youngest member of Stonewall Jackson's staff, was wounded six times and on more than one occasion was cited for bravery. At the close of the War he was in command of the Light Brigade. The greater portion of the book was written immediately after the close of the war from diaries and notes he had kekpt. It was laid aside for thirty-three years. He rewrote the manuscript and it was passed to his nephew. About thirty-five years passed before John Kyd Beckenbaugh attempted to have this work published. Nevins Vol I pg 82. foxing on the top edge of the book, creases on the upper front corner of three pages of text, dj small tear rear top edge, small chips at several of the dj corners.
