91 pp, white boards w/black letters & illustration in black on the front cover, dj wht w/black lettering. INSCRIBED & SIGNED by the author. The story about a black man, according to the census of 1850, William Goyens was one of 397 free Negroes living in Texas. He arrived in Texas while it was still a Mexican state, some sixteen years before Texas independence. The Goyens acted as interpreter f/Mexican government for negotiations w/ the Cherokees of Northeast Texas.
