The story of Confederate Brigadier General John Hunt Morgan who was locked in dungeon in the Ohio State Penitentiary in 1863. Brigadier General John Morgan had various nicknames that provided clues to his swashbuckling, flamboyant personality: "The Thunderbolt of the Confederacy", "The Great Raider", The Great Freeebooter", "The Guerrilla Chieftan", and "The King of Horse Thieves". Morgan and his band of over 2,000 Raiders caused havoc wherever they went. For over 25 days Morgan led his 2,000 men in a protracted raid through Kentucky, Indiana, and Ohio. The sadistic Warden Merion of the Ohio State Penitentiary inflicted upon Morgan and his officers the most degrading inhuman treatment imaginable.
