530 pp, tan cloth boards w/brown lettering, dj blu w/green lettering on spine, dj front has list of towns on the front w/yel lettering & biography of the author on the back, endpapers illustrated maps. Volume tells the story of Williamson County, Texas. Book discusses prehistoric Indians & the four principal tribes which were associated with the county in historic times, tells of exploration by the Spaniards & French & of central Texas missions. Anglo-American settlement is covered as well as immigration of other ethnic groups. Chapters deal with the Civil War, the coming of railroads & with century just past. The book contains list of people interviewed for information for the book with the date. Contains brief history of 398 towns, villages & other places in the county from 1836 to 1973, listing of adults in the 1840 census & an index which includes 1400 family names mentioned in the history. dj has small tears & chips along the edges, some wear & wrinkling to dj corners, couple of small stains to top edge, stain on the front cover.
