ix, 153 pp, yellow clothcovered boards w/brown illustration and lettering on the front panel and brown lettering on the spine. The book memorializes a cowhand of the old Panhandle, Chowining A. Embree and tells about events and people who made history along the western frontier during the two decades from the late seventies to the turn of the century. The book also deals with historic events and characters of Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado and New Mexico. Six-Guns #1053, Herd #1080, Burs #198 There is a chapter on bad men and the law dealing with some the better-known Oklahoma and New Mexico outlaws. Their are several exaggerations in the book, one about Hickok accounting for the liquidation of eight-seven men during his reign as peace officer, and other of Billy the Kid killing twenty-one men by the time he was twenty-one and another with Bat Masterson as sheriff of Dodge City. dj has several chips along the top edges of the front & rear panels.
