Dallas Stoudenmire accepted the position as marshal of El Paso, an oasis on the Texas-New Mexico desert to which outlaws & bandits flocked. Within two years w/the help of Jim Gillett he cleaned up the town. He served as nearly the only law north of the Rio Grande & west of Fort Worth. Dan Tucker served as a deputy sheriff, town marshall, deputy U.S. Marshall, train agent, and livestock inspector during his career as a lawman in the frontier period of the southwest New Mexico.
