Dr. Ferdinand Roemer made a trip to Texas in 1845. He spent two years studying the climate, soil, rivers, geology and people, traveling from Galveston Island to Torrey's Trading Post near present day Waco. The book was translated into English in 1935 by Mr. Oswald Mueller of Houston. reprint of Basic Texas #179-C This is one fo the first scientific investigations of Texas made by someone qualified to do so.
