Sm4to from 9" to 11". 3 volumes, x, 670 pp, vi, 699 pp, vii, 775 pp, half-leather bound w/spine & corners in leather, gilt decoration on the spines, brown cloth boards, five raised bands on the spines w/gilt lettering & deco, endpapers & pastedowns decorated w/marbled papers, the publisher on volume one is tipped on stating The Arthur H. Clark Company, beneath the tipped on paper it states G.P. Putnum's Sons, New York, volume 2 and 3 do not have the tipped in paper for Arthur H. Clark Company, TEG (top edge gilt), fore edge & foot (bottom edge) untrimmed. the frontispieces for each volume have tissue guards. A biography of Christopher Columbus starting with his character, his biography up to the time of his going to Portugal, describes the discovery of the Admiral's Journal, his subsequent voyages, tracing his remains and other information. the three volumes have portions of leather chipped on the spines, the first volume has been professionally repaired placing the backstrip has been reattached, volume three stain on the leather spine.
