xiv, 170 pp, red clothcovered boards w/gilt lettering on the spine, dj dark red w/grey-white illustration on the front cover. The book was translated from Le grand-ouest des Etats-Unis. The author Louis Laurent Simonin (1830-1886) was a Frenchman. He toured Colorado and Wyoming in the autumn of 1867. He was a mining engineer and visited the region at the invitation of the commissioner of Colorado Territory. He witnessed the meeting of the Indian Peace Commission with Crow and Arapaho chiefs at Fort Laramie, in 1867. His report of the council was the only extant account by a civilian. dj price-clipped, chip missing at bottom of the dj spine, dj rubbed.
