120 pp, light orange-grey pictorial SC wraps w/wraparound illustration in grey. The Wendish Texans are descendants of Wends in Germany. They were occasionally referred to as Lusatian Sorbs. They were a Slavic people of obscure original who settled in central Europe. In Europe today they are concentrated in East Germany near Bautzen and Cottbus and along the banks of the Spree River. After the Reformation the majority of the Wends became Protestants, primarily Lutherans. Small groups of Wends emigrated to Australia and others emigrated to Texas. The book has an abstract of the original ship register (Ben Nevis) of the Wendish Colonists of Texas of 1854.
