xix, 216 pp, brown cloth covered boards w/gilt lettering on the spine, dj dark brown w/pictorial front panel and with tan spine w/black lettering. The story of Helen Sewell who moved with her family to Jim Hogg County, Texas in 1908. She worked with her father in the field doing a man's work for three years. She acquired an unorthodox, haphazard education that eventually led to college. She met and married Texas Ranger, later sheriff, Pell Harbison. They raised six children on a ranch near Hebbronville, and after her husband's death, she ran the ranch fro thirty more years.
